It was a frustrating night for the Rockets, who?let a 16-point second-quarter lead slip away. They stuck around and managed Mid PRM Suede Marrone Bianco Nike Blazer to tie the game at 97-97 with five minutes remaining, but an 11-0 Warrior run was too much for them to overcome.

Perhaps the biggest loss?for Houston was that of center Dwight Howard, who suffered a left?knee bruise when teammate Josh Smith ran into him. He scored just 7 points in the game.?

While Harden played at a high level,?Warriors coach Steve Kerr said he was pretty happy with his team's defensive effort overall.

John Makdessi on Donald 'Cowboy' Cerrone fight- I truly believe in my skills

John Makdessi had to wait over a year to get back in the Octagon after a loss in Feb. 2014. When he finally did, it was at home in Montreal, a few weeks ago at UFC 186.

Even then, Makdessi had the added stress of being named in a lawsuit the week of the fight. To say that the lightweight had a lot of pent up emotions heading into his fight against Shane Campbell would be an understatement.

That's why when The Bull scored a TKO win with just seconds left in the first round, he appeared to be overcome with joy and relief. It has been a long road, he tells FOX Sports.

There were a lot of ups and downs, and a lot of emotion built up. I was just very happy and am happy with the team I have. There are so many outside distractions that I just focus on myself, and my inner circle, instead. I work very hard and my team puts so much into me.

Makdessi didn't allow himself much time to rest and come down from that high, however, as he went after a fight against top lightweight contender Donald Cerrone when Khabib Nurmagomedov pulled out of the fight with Cowboy because of injury. I actually made the move to get that fight, he reveals.

I was resting my body for about four days but then I started seeing some Twitter stuff. I had no idea if it was real, I wasn't really paying attention to what Discount Shoes Online Nike Blazer Mid PRM Suede Wine Red Black was going on but I spoke to Hector Castro, my manager, and then he called the UFC. The next thing you know, they offered me the fight with Cerrone.

Though he wanted the fight, Makdessi says that, initially, he didn't believe it would happen. Ultimately, he knew he'd be a fool to refuse the opportunity to leapfrog the entire division and fight for the possible chance to be next in line for a title shot.

  • Some guys like to put on a show but save the best for last. From Anderson Silva to Demetrious Johnson, check out ten of the best late-round finishes in UFC history

The funny thing is that I didn't take it serious, at first, he admits.

In my eyes, I'd just finished a fight. I was relaxing. Then, they called me back. That's when it got serious. It's a good opportunity. It is my dream to be the world champion and he is one of the top competitors in the division. I'd have to be an idiot to not take the fight.

The task of cutting his rest short and preparing for the lightweight division's hottest fighter in Cerrone on short notice doesn't seem to daunt the TriStar gym member, Makdessi, much. That type of confidence comes Black Red White Nike Air Max 90 HYP PRM from somebody who stays ready, so he doesn't have to get ready.

Usually, I give myself three or four days to relax, and recover after fights, he says.

Then, I head straight back to the grind. It doesn't take me much to get back in shape. One week of training for me is like a full training camp for other guys. I stay ready and I'm in top shape already. I'm always consistent. I don't really have training camps. I don't do what every other fighter does - fight, then do nothing, get out of shape and sit around until the next fight. I stay in shape and train all year round.

Makdessi will certainly be the underdog when he fights Cerrone at UFC 187 later this month, given his seven fight win streak. However, the fighter out of Montreal knows he has the stuff of champions, and is eager to prove it to the world.

I Nike Air Max 90 Deep Purple Black truly believe in my skills, he says.

I test my skills with some of the best fighters in sparring. I've worked with Rory MacDonald, Georges St-Pierre. I know my strengths and weaknesses. I know where I have to fight my fight the same way Donald knows where he has to fight his fight. It is going to be an interesting fight. Styles make fights. We're going to see and find out May 23.

Ethier, Kendrick lead streaking Dodgers over Marlins 11-1

LOS ANGELES (AP) Andre Ethier and the Los Angeles Dodgers were simply dialed in at the plate Tuesday night, and there wasn't much Miami could do about it.

Ethier went 5 for 5 with a homer and three RBIs, and the Dodgers easily overcame a mammoth home run by Giancarlo Stanton that left the stadium to beat the Marlins 11-1 for their fifth straight victory.

Howie Kendrick had four hits and also went deep as the RED/WHITE Nai Ke Nike Air Force 1 High Dodgers roughed up recent teammate Dan Haren in his return to Los Angeles. The two-time defending NL West champions (22-10) pounded out a season-high 21 hits and improved to 15-2 at home.

Every starting position player for the Dodgers had a hit by the sixth inning.

''We just got some pitches to hit and didn't miss,'' Kendrick said. ''Different guys at different times have been swinging the bat well all year and tonight it was everybody at the same time.''

Just recalled from the minors, Mike Bolsinger (1-0) pitched 5 2-3 effective innings for the win. He allowed five hits and one run.

''I just tried to put myself in a good position to stay up here,'' Bolsinger said. ''I didn't have my fastball command that I wanted so I just threw a lot of curveballs and sliders and was able to get some groundouts.''

Haren, acquired from the Dodgers in an offseason trade, was tagged for 11 hits and six runs in 4 1-3 innings.

Stanton launched the longest home run in the majors Rouge Noir Blanc Nike Air Max 90 HYP PRM this season, a 478-foot drive in the first inning that hit the back of the canopy above the left-field pavilion and bounced out of Dodger Stadium. It was Stanton's eighth of the year and it surpassed Alex Rodriguez's 477-foot shot April 17 at Tropicana Field.

''He's hit a couple like that in batting practice and man, he hammered that thing,'' Marlins manager Mike Redmond said. ''I just wish we could've tacked on a few more.''

The Dodgers quickly recovered. Kendrick led off the third with an opposite-field homer to tie it, and one inning later Ethier led off with a long home run to center that put them in front.

Los Angeles broke it open with a four-run fifth. Alex Guerrero doubled off the left-field wall to bring home a run, Yasmani Grandal laced a two-run single, and Haren (4-2) was pulled. Scott Van Slyke greeted reliever Brad Hand with an RBI single to cap the surge.

Adrian Gonzalez added an RBI double in the sixth to extend his hitting streak to 11 games and start a five-run inning for the Dodgers.

''It's definitely fun to go out and have nights like tonight,'' Pink Red White Nike Air Max 90 HYP PRM Kendrick said. ''They're not going to happen like this all the time, so it feels good when they do.''

    HOT CORNER OPEN

Manager Don Mattingly announced Juan Uribe is no longer the Dodgers' set starter at third base. Uribe, who didn't start for the third straight day, will share time with Guerrero and Justin Turner.

    CLOSER CHANGE FOR MARLINS

Steve Cishek was removed from the closer's role in Miami after blowing back-to-back saves Sunday and Monday.

Redmond said the team will use a combination of A.J. Ramos, Bryan Morris and Mike Dunn to close for now. Cishek has blown four of seven save opportunities and posted a 10.32 ERA.

Media reports indicated the Marlins have interest in free-agent closer Rafael Soriano, who was 4-1 with a 3.19 ERA and 32 saves for Washington last season.

    TRAINER'S ROOM

Marlins: RHP Henderson Alvarez (right shoulder and elbow inflammation) pitched six scoreless innings in a rehab game with Class A Jupiter. He's been on the 15-day disabled list since April 13.

Dodgers: OF Yasiel Puig (strained hamstring) is on hold after re-aggravating his injury last Friday in the second game of his stint with Class A Rancho Cucamonga. No timetable was given for him to resume his rehab assignment. ... Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen (foot surgery) fielded grounders off the Dodger Stadium mound before the game and will make the last of his six rehab appearances with Rancho Cucamonga on Wednesday.

    UP NEXT

Marlins: Jarred Cosart (1-3, 3.67 ERA) makes his first appearance against the Dodgers and will try to bounce back from a rough outing in his last start against San Francisco. Cosart got tagged for six hits and four runs in four innings, his shortest outing in 31 starts dating to April 18, 2014.

Dodgers: Carlos Frias (3-0, 2.13) makes his third start of the season and will try to last longer than 5 1-3 innings for the first time this year. The 25-year-old was moved from the bullpen to the rotation this month due to injuries and has allowed 12 hits and three runs in 12 2-3 innings with 11 strikeouts and three walks.

3B Matt Carpenter returns to Cardinals' lineup

CLEVELAND (AP) St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter returned to the lineup Tuesday night after missing a weekend series in Pittsburgh because of fatigue.

''I'm feeling much better,'' said Carpenter, who was set to bat second at Cleveland.

''My body feels good and I'm glad to be back here. You hate missing games, but you got to do what you're told and listen to your body,'' he said.

Carpenter remained in St. Louis for the games against the Pirates because he'd been feeling lightheaded and dizzy.

''Fatigue is the best way to describe it,'' Carpenter said. ''I know it doesn't sound like anything, but it was. I wasn't right.''

''My body Very Cheap NIKE LeBron 12 Low WOLF GRAY RED WHITE Hot Lava wasn't working on all cylinders. I just did not feel good,'' he said. ''The medical staff decided and thought it was a good idea to take this time off. At the time I didn't agree with it, but now I think it was much needed.''

An All-Star last year, he is batting .333 with five homers and 20 RBIs in 27 games for the team with the best record in the majors.

Carpenter is known for his all-out style of play, and said he brings a football mentality to baseball.

''Obviously, I think it was self-inflicted,'' he said. ''I push myself really hard. I always do. For whatever reason it got the best of me Hot Lava NIKE LeBron 12 Low WOLF GRAY RED WHITE last week. It happened, learn from it, monitor yourself and understand you have a wall if you don't take care of yourself and watch yourself.''

Carpenter watched the games in Pittsburgh on television.

''It's hard to not watch the game, as much as love this group of guys, this team,'' he said. ''I want to be out there every day. Outside of the three-hour stretch of games, I rested a lot. It was much needed.''

Cardinals manager Mike Matheny is pleased about Carpenter's return and didn't consider using him at designated hitter, which was an option in an American League ballpark.

''We like having all our guys back and there's no doubt what Carp means to this club in so many different ways,'' Matheny Red Black White Nike Air Max 90 HYP PRM said.

''We put a lot of trust in our medical staff and there are times they have made some suggestions outside the box. It comes down to what is best for our guys and trust the fact that they know what they are doing and stand behind them. We've been in contact the last couple days. Everything is good,'' he said.

Maryland tops Big Ten in NFL draft picks per capita

Not everyone was sold on the addition of Maryland and Rutgers helping Big Ten football, at least in terms of on-field product, but the first year provided some positive returns for the Terrapins.

First, of course, was Maryland's No. 3 finish in its inaugural year in Gray Rose Rouge Nike Air Max 90 HYP PRM the Big Ten East last fall.

Then this spring the Terrapins home state showed it has some talent that can help the league if it can be kept home.

Rebels ready for historic win in SAfrica

Melbourne Rebels halfback Nic Stirzaker says it's business Nike Blazer Mid PRM Suede Charcoal Noir as usual despite their Super Rugby season being on the line against the Stormers.

The Rebels are still a slim mathematical chance to make the finals but must win all of their remaining games and hope other results fall their way.

Ahead of their Cape Town match on Sunday morning (AEST), Stirzaker said his team wouldn't change their approach for the high-stakes affair.

He Buy Nike Blazer Mid PRM Suede Brown burgundy Coupons Sale said the Rebels needed to go back to what they were doing before their disappointing last round loss to the Reds.

"There's no real change, we need to go back to what we had been doing well for most of the season," Stirzaker said.

"We need to bring in a heightened level of physicality than last week because that's important over here in South Africa.

"There's no major changes just because it's crunch time."

The Rebels have lost all eight games they have played in South Africa.

But they have won a record six games this season, including their first victory outside Australia, against the Crusaders in Christchurch in the opening round.

They also beat the Brumbies in Canberra for the first time.

They will have to beat the Stormers, known for their stingy defence, without a key attacking weapon with winger Sefanaia Naivalu ruled out through concussion.

Stirzaker said the Rebels had the depth to cover his loss, with former NSW flyer Cam Crawford, who will make his Rebels debut, coming in.

"We've got Cam Crawford, Tom English, Dom Shipperley; a lot of really good wingers who have performed well at this level," he said.

"For the team there's no concern, we'll just move on."

The Stormers are only one point off top spot in the Very Cheap Nike Air Max 90 HYP PRM Black Red White Coupons Sale South African ladder and coach Allister Coetzee said they were wary of a Rebels raid.

They have brought in Springbok Sevens speedster Seabelo Senatla while Louis Schreuder replaces halfback Nic Groom.

"The Rebels have beaten the Crusaders and the Brumbies away this year, so it shows their capacity as a team," Coetzee told the Stormers website.

"We need to pitch up for this weekend's match - we need to bring attitude and ensure our physicality is spot-on.

"This is much-improved Rebels team; they're a good team, they're well-coached and we know were in for a tough time of it."

Braun, Lind, Ramirez's back-to-back-to-back HRs lead Brewers by Tigers

The Milwaukee Brewers used some power and dominant pitching to run over the Detroit Tigers.

Ryan Braun, Adam Lind and Aramis Ramirez hit consecutive home runs in a six run-third inning, Jimmy Nelson pitched eight strong innings, and the Brewers beat the Tigers 8-1 Tuesday night.

Braun drove Nike Air Max 90 HYP PRM Blue White Black in four runs and Carlos Gomez had three hits and two RBIs for Milwaukee, which has won the first two games of the three-game series.

Nelson (2-4) gave up a run and three hits, walked four and struck out five. He retired 11 straight batters from the fifth inning until there were two out in the eighth, when Miguel Cabrera grounded a single to right.

''It was good. Especially the last half of the game. Early, I really struggled with the command of my four seam fastball and curve. I started throwing my two-seam fastball,'' Nelson said. ''As the game went on, I started to settle in and command my pitches and that made the difference.''

Tigers starter Anibal Sanchez (3-5) gave up seven runs and seven hits in 3 2/3 innings, including the three consecutive homers.

''I think when he got out of the stretch the ball started creeping up in the zone. He just had trouble getting it down and they took advantage Very Cheap Nike Blazer Mid PRM Suede Grey Blue White of it,'' Detroit manager Brad Ausmus said.

Sanchez has allowed nine home runs in 54 2/3 innings this season after surrendering only four in 126 innings in 2014.

''It's been clearly something that is uncharacteristic for Sanchie. Long ball wasn't an issue last year, but this year it's been a little bit of a different story now,'' Ausmus said. ''We've also seen some outstanding starts by Sanchie, but when he doesn't have his command down in the zone, his off-speed pitches especially, that's when they hit him. ''

  • John Wall has multiple fractures in wrist and han

    By Vincent Frank

Washington Wizards guard John Wall missed the team’s Game 2 outing against the Atlanta Hawks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals after taking a hard fall on his left wrist in the series opener on Sunday.

It now appears that Wall suffered five fractures in his left wrist in that fall, the Nike Blazer Mid PRM Suede Marron Blanc team announced on Thursday.

    Here’s the full report:

Wizards guard John Wall underwent multiple examinations yesterday that revealed five non-displaced fractures in his left wrist and hand.

Wall and the team are currently in consultation with multiple physicians and specialists to determine the best course of action Nike Blazer Mid PRM Suede Grigio Blu Bianco and his playing status has yet to be determined. Further updates will be provided as information becomes available.

While it’s not yet known what this means for Wall moving forward in the playoffs, it’s highly unlikely that he will be able to suit up for Game 3 of the Wizards-Hawks series on Saturday. At this point, there is no timetable for Wall’s return.

What’s amazing is the fact that Wall was still able to power through this injury in leading the Wizards to a Game 1 win over Atlanta. He netted 18 points, seven rebounds and 13 assists.

With Wall likely out of action for the foreseeable future, veteran Ramon Sessions will continue to start in his stead. Sessions had a solid Game 2 outing, going for 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting in 40 minutes.

The series is currently tied at one apiece heading to Washington for Game 3 on Saturday.

San Francisco mayor signs law banning chewing tobacco at ballparks

    SAN FRANCISCO

San Francisco has become the first city in the nation to outlaw chewing tobacco from its playing fields, including ATT Park, home to the San Francisco Giants.

Players and the manager of the team expressed support for the ordinance signed into law by Mayor Ed Lee on Friday but also concern about breaking the chewing habit.

The ordinance, which will take effect Jan. 1, prohibits the use of smokeless tobacco at athletic venues, specifically singling out baseball, which has a long history of players masticating and spitting tobacco juice in view of children who worship them.

It's a step in the right direction, said Giants manager Bruce Bochy, who has chewed tobacco on and off for decades but quit at one point with help from a hypnotist.

It's a tough deal for some of these players who have grown up playing with it and there are so many triggers in the game, Bochy added. I certainly don't Blu Bianco Nero Nike Air Max 90 HYP PRM negozio di scarpe endorse it. With my two sons, the one thing I asked them is don't ever start dipping.

The San Francisco ordinance is part of an overall push by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, based in Washington, D.C., which targeted the city and California to promote its anti-smoking efforts. An even more expansive bill outlawing all tobacco use, including electronic cigarettes and smokeless tobacco, wherever an organized game of baseball is played in California is making its way through the Assembly.

Today, San Francisco entered the history books as the first city to take tobacco out of baseball. The home of the world champion Giants has set an example that all of Major League Baseball and the rest of the country should quickly follow, said Matthew L. Myers, president of the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids.

UND releases list of nearly 1,200 potential new nicknames

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) From ''Amber Waves'' to ''Zombies,'' the list of potential new nicknames for University of North Dakota athletic teams ranges from the sublime to the ridiculous.

UND released a list of zapatillas deportivas Asics Gel Noosa Tri 9 Royal/Blanco /Rojo calzado deportivo nearly 1,200 potential new nicknames Monday night, from which a committee will make a short list of finalists that will go to a public vote, likely sometime this year, school spokesman Peter Johnson said Tuesday.

State residents voted overwhelmingly in 2012 to dump UND's ''Fighting Sioux'' nickname, which had been in place since the 1930s. The NCAA considered it hostile and abusive, and it failed to get the endorsement of one of the state's two namesake tribes. The state Legislature put a moratorium on replacing the nickname until this year.

Among the more popular nickname suggestions were ''North Dakota'' - essentially no nickname at all - and ''Flickertails,'' the name of a ground squirrel. Many proposals also retained the word ''Fighting,'' including the ''Fighting Farmers'' and other monikers with Norwegian or aviation themes. UND's flight school is considered one of the best in the nation.

Among the more humorous suggestions were the ''Barn Cats,'' ''Flying Monkeys'' and ''Sugar Beatles.'' And an apparent fan of the rival North Dakota State University Bison apparently thought ''Baby Bison'' would be fitting.

The school also released names that had been excluded because they were profane, their domain Pinnacle AIR JORDAN 1 RETRO High WHITE GOLD names weren't available or they would have conflicted with NCAA policy. Johnson said releasing the profane names might elicit complaints, but the school wanted the process to be as transparent as possible.

Among the excluded names were those with American Indian-themes and ''Fighting Sue,'' a homophonic play on the old nickname.

''Roughriders'' and ''Rough Riders'' were popular suggestions that were excluded for reasons that weren't immediately clear. Both were meant to highlight the state's links to President Theodore Roosevelt, who ranched in the North Dakota Badlands. The Rough Riders was a cavalry unit he led during the Spanish-American War.

Johnson said he expected the nickname committee to settle on fewer than 10 finalists, but that it hasn't been determined how long that will take. The committee, which is being advised by branding consultant Padilla CRT, will base its selections on a list of ''desired attributes'' that range from being unique and inspiring to being easy to pronounce and to represent with a mascot.

UND's Fighting Sioux nickname and American Indian head logo were retired in June 2012, after which the Legislature enacted a three-year moratorium on a new moniker to provide for a cooling-off period for those still upset over losing the old nickname. That despair is still evident, with ''Fighting Sioux'' and ''Sioux'' appearing thousands of times on the list of nicknames not being considered.

David Barral opened the scoring for Levante in the 32nd, only for Siqueira to level three minutes later. Kalu Uche put the hosts back ahead in the 63rd.

New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday underwent successful surgery on Wednesday to remove a screw from his surgically repaired lower right leg.It is the second consecutive year, Holiday has required surgery to be performed on his lower right leg. Last year, Holiday had surgery to implant a steel rod in his right tibia after suffering a stress fracture.Last week, Holiday said the screw was put in to hold the steel rod in his right leg.''I have one screw Nike Roshe Run Flyknit and I want to get that out but they don't have to,'' Holiday said last week. The team also announced on Wednesday that starting small forward Quincy Pondexter underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee.

Having an ace in MLB is a blessing as it allows teams to really take control of series when their aces are pitching in one. Nike Lebron XI Shoes Brady needs more time to digest deflated footballs report

SALEM, Mass. (AP) Tom Brady knows how to buy time when he's under pressure - on and off the field.

Especially when the star quarterback is in front of a home crowd.

One day after a report from an NFL-hired investigator concluded Brady probably knew that New England Patriots employees had a role in deflating footballs, he said Thursday night he needs more time to process the vendita scarpe da basket 243-page report.

''I don't really have any reaction. It has only been 30 hours. I've not had much time to digest it,'' Brady told a university crowd that broke into frequent applause. ''When I do I will be sure to let you know how I feel about it. And everybody else.''

The 2015 Super Bowl MVP is waiting to find out if the NFL will discipline him with a fine, a suspension or both. New England is scheduled to play its opener against Pittsburgh in the kickoff game of the regular season on Sept. 10.

''There is a process going forward and I am involved in this process,'' he said.

He wasn't shy about saying that the scandal hasn't detracted from the 28-24 Super Bowl win over Seattle two weeks after the 45-7 victory over Indianapolis in the AFC championship game that was the focus of the investigation.

''Absolutely not,'' he said in his first public appearance since the report from Ted Wells, an independent investigator appointed by the NFL, was issued. ''We earned everything we got and achieved as a team, and I am proud of that and so are our fans.''

Asked whether public backlash bothers him, Brady said he accepts his role as a public figure and has people who support him and help him get through it.

''As a human you care about what people think. I think also as a public figure you learn not everyone is going to like you,'' he said. ''Good, bad or indifferent, there are a lot of people who don't like Tom Brady, and I am OK with that.''

The superstar quarterback spoke at a QA session moderated by sportscaster Jim Gray during a previously scheduled, sold-out event at Salem State University.

He arrived by helicopter for the talk on leadership, avoiding a long line of fans outside and media waiting for him to enter. The event was delayed more than 30 minutes to allow fans to enter, including some wearing Brady jerseys. During the wait, the crowd chanted ''Brady'' and ''MVP,'' then gave him a standing ovation as he walked in.

When someone shouted, ''I love you Tommy,'' he responded ''love you, too.''

Gray said the session would largely stick to subjects that were planned when they arranged the talk four months ago. But he acknowledged the difficulty in avoiding one of the hottest topics in sports.

''There's an elephant in the room,'' Gray said.

    ''Where?'' Brady responded.

Gray shot back: ''You might be the only one in the room who does not see it.''

Gray did not ask Brady directly whether he cheated or about specific issues raised in the report, including text messages and phone conversations that indicated the employees were trading autographed footballs and sneakers for doctoring the balls for Brady.

The NFL requires a range of 12.5-13.5 pounds per square inch. Footballs with less pressure can be easier to grip and catch. Some quarterbacks prefer footballs that have less air, and Brady played a role in a 2006 rewriting of the rules that allowed visiting teams to supply the footballs it would use on offense.

The first four minutes of the hour-long session were devoted to Brady's reaction to the report. The subject did not come up again.

Brady seemed at ease throughout the event, which included questions about Seattle coach Pete Carroll's ill-fated call for a pass that was intercepted in the end zone by cornerback Malcom Butler in the final minute of the Super Bowl.

''It was more of a great defensive play than a bad offensive play,'' Brady said.

He laughed when asked about a recent online video showing him jumping off a cliff into water in Costa Rica.

''It was kind of a spur-of-the-moment thing,'' he said. ''I'll never do it again.''

And he reiterated that a ''family commitment'' kept him from the recent White House ceremony honoring the champion Patriots.

''Did the team go?'' Brady said to laughter. ''If we get that opportunity (next year) there's no doubt I'll be there.''

Earlier Thursday, his agent, Don Yee, said the NFL was determined to blame Brady for deflated footballs, while the investigation omitted key facts and buried others.

The team didn't respond to requests from The Associated Press seeking comment about the report from Brady and Patriots coach Bill Belichick. The Patriots didn't make anyone available on Thursday.

The report didn't find any evidence that team owner Robert Kraft, Belichick or the coaching staff knew anything about deflating balls. But it found some of Brady's claims implausible in explaining why balls were underinflated.

Nike Elastico Superfly WAtoday.com.au Friday Sports Forecast - May 8, 201

Fremantle faces aSaturday night Bombers raid, a woundedWest Coast takes on Port at the fortress and the fallout continues from the Floyd Mayweather/MannyPacquiao bout. Buthey, a week's a long time in any sport (except cricket), so let's see whats in store for you sportosthis weekend.

    Couch Potato:

Western Forcehome to Waratahs, Saturday (5.40pm Fox Sports);Fremantle home to Essendon, Saturday (6.10pm, Fox Footy, Radio 6PR, ABC; 7.10pm Seven Mate);West Coastaway to Port Adelaide, Sunday (2.30pm Fox Footy, Channel Seven, Radio 6PR, ABC); Western Fever - bye

    $10 Friday Flutter:

Whitey (- $10.90) - I'll be super brave (!)and go Western Bulldogs, intoHawthorn, into Sydney, into Fremantle. It's paying about $2.40.

Presto(+$93.30) - Can'tbelieve I lost last week (Iam human),so let's get back on the winning wagon, with a multi of Geelong into Richmond both winning. That's paying $6.40

    Stats that Matter:

Whitey - The boozehoundSuns have Nike Elastico Superfly only 24 players to choose from this week against Adelaide. Kind of reminds me of late-2011, when the legitimately injury-struck Dockers had to roll out Jack Anthony for a home thrashing at the hands of Collingwood. Hard to see this weekend ending well for the Gold Coast.

Presto- The big sixof Fremantle's midfield (Fyfe, Mundy, Neale, Hill, Barlow, Pearce) are averaging more than 25 possessions a game, with Fyfe and Mundy the best midfield duo in the comp. Good luck Bombers.

The iconic 17th hole at Nike SB Dunk Low TPC Sawgrass

    Don't Miss:

Whitey - The Players Championshiphas never become the fifth golf major that it was originally designed to be. But its venue - TPC at Sawgrass - has a truly iconic (and challenging) 17th hole and a world-class field is assembled. It's worth setting the alarm for on Fox Sports 2.

Presto- Collingwood v Geelong at the MCG (Friday, 5.50pm)... these are the sort of Friday night footy matches we want -a game with so much riding on it.For the Pies, this could cement a top-four spot; for the Cats, a win would put them right back in touch with the top eight.

    Monday's Headline:

Whitey - Tiger does a Rory and shakes off break-up to win

Presto- Kyrgios reigns on clay, takes first title

    Awkward Reunion:

GWS came far closer than expected last time they met the Hawks, falling short by seven points at the MCG in round 11 of 2014. They're on the improve in 2015, while the reigning premiers have been slightly wobbly. At home (Saturday, 2.35pm), the young Giants could prevail... or perish completely.

    You Can't Be Serious:

Brisbane coach JustinLeppitschwas forced to publicly apologise for having a slight altercation with a Lions reserves player, who had toldhis coach Shane Woewodin to f--k off. Leppitschalready said sorryto his players for the unsavoury incident - and that's where it should have been left. This IS footy... all sorts of testerone-filled emotions run highin the confines of club rooms.Arrows of abuseand flickers of frustrationhave been happening since the gamewas first played. That mantramight not rule these daysbut we shouldn't send a coach to the gallows for reinvigorating itsspirit.

    Sure Thing:

Presto- In another topsy-turvy season, there's almost no such thing as a sure thing in the AFL. But Port Adelaide should account for a wounded West Coast quite comfortably at home (Sunday, 2.40pm).

    Off the SportsVine:

Golf's coolest man, Miguel Angel Jimenez, gets into it with one of the sport's more intense dudes, Keegan Bradley, at the World Match Play Championships. Cheaper than Mayweather-Pacquaio and just about as entertaining!

    Tweet of the Week:

Can't possibly be true. Carlton players would surely give a better effort for Edelsten.

    Flashback:

Thursday marked 26 years since Michael Jordan did this to the Cleveland Cavaliers and Craig Ehlo. It remains the benchmark by which all game-winning buzzer-beaters should be measured. Interestingly enough, LeBron James' Cavs are currently tied 1-1 in a playoff series against the Bulls.

Nike Kobe 10 GS It’s Now Or Never For New York Mets Shortstop Wilmer Flore

    Anthony Gruppuso – USATODAY Sports

After it looked like he was starting to turn a corner, New York Mets shortstop Wilmer Flores has come back down to earth, and fast. In a critical series against the Washington Nationals, Flores made an egregious era on what should have been an easy double play, an error that opened the floodgates and was a catalyst in a Mets loss. The following night, Flores struck out four times, dropping his season line to a meager .240/.278/.387. Flores was then left out of the starting lineup the next two games with the hope that the time off can help him get him back on the right track.

With New York having Monday off, Flores Adidas Nitrocharge 2015 will have three straight days off, and coming off of a break like that, Flores needs to emerge as a more consistent player both offensively and defensively. Even with low expectations for Flores defensively, he’s had far too many errors this season — seven to be specific. He needs to be able to make the play on any ball he can reach, but that hasn’t been the case; aside from the botched double play against Washington last week, he’s struggled with the accuracy on his throws, despite having more than enough arm strength to play shortstop.

The Mets expect Flores to have some defensive shortcomings, which they’d be fine with if he were producing offensively, but that has yet to be the case. Despite being tied for the team lead in home runs, Flores has struggled to be a productive offensive player, outside of one eight-game stretch in which he had 12 hits, including all three of his home runs. For the season, Flores’ numbers are almost identical to what they are over his 127 career games in the majors, and those numbers are not enough to make up for a player with Flores’ defensive limitations at shortstop, even if he were making all the routine plays.

The Mets do want to give Flores a suitable amount of time to prove himself, which is clearly the plan after the team declined to acquire another shortstop during the offseason. However, the Mets also want to field a team that will help them remain competitive in the NL East and won’t be as patient with young players as they have in past years. With Matt Reynolds being one of the team’s top performing prospects in April with a line of .326/.393/.543, the Mets seemingly have another option at shortstop who’s ready at any time, putting pressure on Flores to get his act together.

After getting three full Nike Kobe 10 GS days off to put his recent struggles behind him, it may be now or never for Flores with regard to staking his claim over the Mets’ shortstop job. He needs to come out of this break a more consistent player, both offensively and defensively. Another week or two of struggling at the plate, mixed with a few more errors in the field, and the Mets may not hesitate to give Reynolds a chance at shortstop and relegate Flores to the bench — this time for more than a just a few days.

Nike Air Force 1 Prezzo Jenson Button- McLaren '10 times better' in Barcelona than at test

Jenson Button declared that McLarens 2015 car felt 10 times better around the Circuit de Catalunya in Friday practice than was the case in winter testing, after a promising opening day for the team at the Spanish GP.

Armed with upgrades to the MP4-30 chassis as well as changes to the Honda engine, McLaren showed little improvement on the timesheet in Practice One before a more eye-catching performance in the second session saw Button finish in seventh place.

I was surprised by the McLarens pace in qualy trim and it was maybe higher than even we expected them to be," commented Sky Sports F1's Anthony Davidson after the session.

On F1s last visit to the Barcelona circuit in March for the final winter test, the MP4-30 proved both the slowest and least reliable of all the 2015 cars in action and the team have since Nike Air Force 1 Prezzo then spent race weekends steadily clawing their way back from the foot of the grid.

Two months on, Button admitted there was a night-and-day difference in performance around the high-speed track.

I dont think you can compare its very different. Its a massive difference to winter testing, were also able to put mileage in now so thats a big change, the former world champion said.

The circuits probably slower because of the heat and the wind but the car feels 10 times better than it did then, so its good.

When it was put to him that seventh place with a best lap time just 1.6 seconds slower than Lewis Hamiltons pacesetting Mercedes appeared to represent good progress, Button replied: Thats the closest weve been all year. Its always nice to see it on the timing sheets, but it is only practice.

We always seem quicker in P2 than in qualifying, but well see. I would say its a promising day when you compare us to the front guys.

Although pleased with the apparent step forward, Button said the sizzling heat and gusty conditions that dominated Fridays running had made for a challenging pair of sessions.

Its been tough day today I think for everyone, he recounted. "P1 with the prime tyre felt reasonably good but tough in terms of the balance around the lap with the wind and the hot temperatures.

P2 really struggled on the prime tyre, the option tyre was much better, but theres a lot of work for us to do in every area to optimise what we have. Its been a good day in terms if data, but theres a lot of work to do to understand why the car is doing certain things.

Team-mate Fernando Alonso, returning to the scene of his mysterious accident at the test in February, finished P2 a couple of tenths slower than Button in 11th place.

"It was okay," the Spaniard said. "We need to check all the tests we did today and tomorrow hope everything's together and increase the performance a little bit."

Nike Kyrie 1 Chaussure Oakland Athletics Need To Call Up Switch-Pitcher Pat Venditt

    Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The bullpen issues continued for the Oakland Athletics last night as they let down the team once again, allowing four runs and ultimately costing the A’s the lead. The bullpen has now allowed at least two runs in 12 of the last 18 games. It is time for Oakland to shake things up in their bullpen by calling up switch-pitcher Pat Venditte from Triple-A.

Yes, Venditte is an ambidextrous pitcher and he Nike Kyrie 1 Chaussure has been quite good this year. In spring training with the A’s, Venditte pitched 12 innings where he struck out seven and earned a 1.17 WHIP. Now in Triple-A Nashville, he has a 1.13 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 16 innings pitched.

Venditte brings something new to the table. Even though his velocity only ranges from the high 70s to the mid-80s, he does have three pitches on both sides – a fastball, changeup and slider, which is his strongest pitch on the left and right side. Also, not only does he feel comfortable pitching from both sides, but he can successfully strike out batters from the left and right.

However, Venditte is Tiempo Legend V not on the 40-man roster. Additionally, roster space is tight after the A’s reclaimed outfielder Alex Hassan for the third time off of waivers from the Texas Rangers and with first baseman Nate Freiman coming off the DL soon. The A’s are going to have to shuffle some players around if they want to call up Venditte.

The Athletics seemed to have exhausted all of the reliever options they have on their 40-man roster. Venditte is really their only viable alternative left. After seven years in the minor leagues and his success so far this season in Triple-A, Venditte deserves a chance.

botas de futebol baratas Carson approves stadium, now up to NFL for LA franchise

CARSON, Calif. (AP) -- The ball now belongs to the Raiders, the Chargers, the Rams -- and the NFL.

A second City Council has approved a second proposed pro football stadium in the Los Angeles area, putting local issues to rest in the NFL's return to the region and leaving the next move to the teams that would seek to relocate and the league that must give its approval.

The latest step was Tuesday's 3-0 vote from the Carson City Council, which cleared the path for a $1.7 billion stadium that could become the shared home to the San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders.

It was intended to lure the NFL back to the Los Angeles area after two decades without a team in the nation's second-largest media market. In nearby Inglewood, St. Louis Rams owner Stan Kroenke is part of a group planning to build an 80,000-seat stadium.

Under NFL rules, the next opportunity for a team to file to relocate to either stadium would be in January 2016. The move would have to clear a tangle of league hurdles, including getting support from at least 24 of the 32 teams.

Carson Mayor Albert Robles likened the absence of the NFL in greater Los Angeles to the state's deep drought.

There are two things that are needed here in Southern California, Robles said after the vote. One of them is rain ... the other is football. And today, hopefully, we took care of that, because football is coming to Carson.

The vote came with a loud cheer from a crowd dotted with Raiders jerseys and Chargers banners, and it faced virtually no opposition from the room.

Mike Haynes, who played for the then-LA Raiders in their 1984 Super Bowl title year and grew up in the area, spoke in favor of the stadium.

It might not be too long `til sometime another local kid will have an opportunity to play in a Super Bowl right down the street from here, Haynes said.

Council members could have opted to put the issue before Carson voters but chose to approve it outright as state law allows. The nearby Inglewood project already has been approved by that city's council.

The sudden rush botas de futebol baratas to Los Angeles is tempered by a 20-year history of disappointment for fans. A string of stadium proposals have come and gone since the Rams and the Raiders fled Southern California after the 1994 season.

zapatillas online baratas Last Time New York Mets Started 12-3 They Won the World Series

    Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

After 15 games, not many people had the?New York Mets pegged as the team to have baseball’s best record, but that’s exactly where we stand. The Nike Free 5.0 V5 Mets are riding a 10-game winning streak and are now 12-3 on the season. Last time they had that record through 15 games, they ended the season on a high note.

In 1986, the last time the Mets were zapatillas online baratas this hot to start a season, they won the World Series in the infamous Buckner series. That team was loaded with veteran talent and was actually in stark contrast to this current squad.

The current Mets have plenty of veterans, but it’s their young pitching and timely hitting that has gotten the job done. Reigning National League Rookie of the Year?Jacob deGrom?has been especially brilliant so far, and?Matt Harvey?is coming back from last season’s surgery well.?Noah Syndergaard, the team’s top pitching prospect, hasn’t even been called up yet.

Since the team has ridden one hot streak for most of the season, it’s hard to know whether or not they’re legitimate contenders, but getting hot to start the season can do a lot for a young team’s confidence. They realize that they can win games they shouldn’t and also hold onto games they should.

In that way, this winning streak has done more than just beef up their record; it has also taught this team how to win early. Of course, there are a few veterans like?David Wright?and?Lucas Duda?on this roster, and they are tasked with helping these young guys succeed.

It may be just as hard for those two, because Duda hasn’t been part of a winning Mets team and it has been several years since Wright was part of one. However, everyone in the Mets organization is getting used to winning now. Whether or not it lasts remains to be seen, but the last time the team was this hot out of the gate, they kept their fans happy all the way through October.

Titans' choices- QB, another player or try to trade down

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Whatever the Tennessee Titans do with the No. 2 overall selection in the NFL draft will depend on just how much they like quarterback Zach Mettenberger.

Because of a 2-14 record in coach Ken Whisenhunt's first season, the Titans are drafting within the top eight picks for the third time since 2006.

They took quarterbacks with each of those previous picks, though both Vince Young (No. 3 in 2006) and Jake Locker (eighth overall in 2011) now are retired from the NFL.

Still rebuilding, the Titans could draft their third quarterback in 10 years unless Mettenberger has shown them enough starting six games without a win as a rookie to stick with him.

The Titans studied Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota very closely this offseason from the combine to their pro days with both visiting Tennessee. The goal is to be ready depending on whom Tampa Bay selects at No. 1 overall.

One of the biggest trade rumors features a deal reuniting Whisenhunt with Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers two years after the Titans coach was Rivers' offensive coordinator in San Diego.

General manager Ruston Webster, going into his fourth draft with this team, said the Titans will know what they need to do come draft night.

''It's the quarterback or another player or it's a trade if that's even possible,'' Webster said. ''I think we'll see where all that goes.''

Sticking with Mettenberger allows the Titans to give the young quarterback help at wide receiver with Kevin White of West Virginia or Amari Cooper of Alabama.

With most of their free agency signees on defense, lineman Leonard Williams of Southern California could be the final piece for new assistant coach Dick LeBeau to fix a unit that was one of the NFL's worst last season.

''We were a 2-14 team last year so we are all about improving and getting players who can help us get back to where we can compete and play,'' Whisenhunt said.

Here are some things to know as the Titans go into the draft:

THE METT SHOW: Mettenberger certainly fits the prototypical Whisenhunt quarterback with size at 6-foot-5 and 224 pounds. He showed a willingness to stand in the pocket and throw downfield as he ranked second in the NFL with a passer rating of 83.4 among rookies starting at least one game behind only Teddy Bridgewater of Minnesota. And that topped the team's rookie mark previously held by Steve McNair who had a rating of 81.7 in 1995. Mettenberger was 107 of 179 for 1,412 yards passing with eight touchdown passes and seven interceptions.

Mettenberger did post two of this franchise's three best performances by a rookie, throwing for a record 345 yards in a loss at Philadelphia and for 299 yards in his first career start. He didn't have much help on an offense where injuries decimated the line and tight end.

FIX THE D: Improving the defense has been at the top of Tennessee's agenda this offseason. Whisenhunt convinced LeBeau to take over a unit that ranked 27th giving up 373 yards per game last season.

Tennessee tied for 29th giving up 27.3 points per game, and the Titans ranked next to last against the run. Defensive players made up most of their free agent signees led by linebacker Brian Orakpo, safety Da'Norris Searcy and cornerback Perrish Cox. The Titans also re-signed linebacker Derrick Morgan, who is coming off a career-best 6 1/2 sacks.

NO. 2 FLASHBACK: This franchise hasn't held the No. 2 pick since the then-Houston Oilers used that pick on offensive tackle Dean Steinkuhler from Nebraska. The Titans have seven selections in this draft and hold the first pick in the second, fourth and sixth rounds.

OFFENSIVE PICKS: The Titans let veteran wide receiver Nate Washington leave after his 10th NFL season, and they signed Harry Douglas and Hakeem Nicks to join Kendall Wright and Justin Hunter. Whisenhunt, who calls his own plays, might want another option, and the Titans have gone for offense with their first pick in six of the past seven drafts.

OFFENSIVE LINE: The Titans still need help here despite taking right guard Chance Warmack 10th overall in 2013 and left tackle Taylor Lewan 11th last year. Signing Michael Oher as right tackle last year was such a mistake Tennessee released the veteran in early February, and veteran left tackle Michael Roos retired. They brought back Byron Stingily and signed veteran Byron Bell last week.

NIKE HYPERVENOM Phelon VOLT/GREEN/BLACK FG Medal hopes on the up- ASC

Australia is set to improve its position on the summer Olympics medals table next year in Rio for the first time since the triumphant 2000 Sydney Games.

In releasing its annual Sports Tally report, Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) director Matt Favier said Australia was much better placed now across a range of sports than at the same stage before the London Games, when it slumped to 10th on the overall table with just seven golds among 35 medals.

"We believe we can and will improve on London," Favier told AAP.

"The margins are ever so small between our aspiration of fifth and certainly no lower than ninth.

We believe we have everything in place to finish well within the top 10.

"But it is difficult to predict and the margins are small when it comes down to gold medals and silver medals as a likely differentiator."

The targets are very similar to those last week from Australian Olympic Committee secretary general Fiona de Jong, who flagged a stretch target of fifth and a benchmark result of seventh on the overall medals table in Rio.

Australia finished fourth overall at the 2000 and 2004 Games and sixth at Beijing in 2008.

The AIS will make more detailed medal projections early in 2016 following a year which includes world championships in swimming and athletics.

Swimming has traditionally been Australia's best source of Olympic medals and its progress was graded as "on track" Laranja Fluorescent Verde Salomon XT Wings 3 Shoes by the AIS following a successful Commonwealth campaign last year in Glasgow which netted 52 podium finishes.

But three other high-profile Olympic programs - athletics, rowing and basketball - had their ranking dropped to "progressing".

The AIS repeated its criticism of the shambolic campaign by athletics at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, where head coach Eric Hollingsworth was sent home in disgrace for publicly criticising Sally Pearson.

"(It) was poorly timed and unhelpful for the sport's image," the AIS said in the Sports Tally report.

"Despite this distraction, there were solid performances from a number of athletes including Sally Pearson, Kimberley Mickle, Alana Boyd, Michael Shelley and Dani Samuels."

The Boomers failed to meet the target of NIKE HYPERVENOM Phelon VOLT/GREEN/BLACK FG a top-eight finish at last year's World Cup in Turkey.

The non-Olympic sport of surfing received the highest possible rating of "excelling" by the AIS while judo was given the lowest mark.

Nike Air Max Tailwind 5 Deep Blue Jade Pakistanis look to bounce bac

KHULNA, Bangladesh: Pakistan hope the return of skipper Misbah-ul Haq and experienced batsman Younis Khan will help them bounce back on the miserable tour of Bangladesh when a two-Test series opens in Khulna today.

The tour has been a nightmare for the Pakistanis so far, with a 3-0 whitewash in the one-day series being followed by their first-ever defeat to Bangladesh in a Twenty20 international.

The two senior players were not part of the limited-overs squad with Misbah, who turns 41 next month, having quit one-day cricket after the World Cup and Younis, 37, not selected.

Younis is only 506 runs away from overtaking Javed Miandad's Nike Air Max Tailwind 5 Deep Blue Jade tally of 8,832 runs as Pakistan's leading Test scorer and holds Cargo Khaki / Cargo Khaki - Black Nike Air Odyssey LTR the Pakistan record of 28 Test centuries.

"They are very experienced and Pakistan has usually done well when they are around," said 19-year-old batsman Sami Aslam. "Both are world-class players and they are sure to make the difference in the series."

Pakistan, who fielded a new-look side in the one-day series retaining just four of the squad who played in the World Cup, have selected nearly the same Test squad that beat Australia 2-0 and drew with New Zealand 1-1 in the UAE before the World Cup. Ranked only eighth in one-day cricket, Misbah's squad are fourth behind South Africa, Australia and England in the Test standings.

"Tests are entirely different and I am pretty confident my team will do better in this format," said Aslam, who could make his Test debut after making a fluent 45 on his one-day debut last week.

A confident Bangladesh are looking to improve their underwhelming Test record, having won just seven and lost 70 of their 88 matches since being granted full status in 2000.

Of the seven wins, five came against fellow Test minnows Zimbabwe and two against an under-strength West Indies side in 2009.

Bangladesh have lost all eight Tests against Pakistan, but leading all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan hoped the confidence gained from the limited-overs wins would ensure a better showing.

Wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim returns to lead the Test side in place of limited-overs captain Mashrafe Mortaza.

The second Test will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Dhaka from May 6 to 10.

Creamer wants women's Masters at Augusta

Paula Creamer is calling for a women's Masters at Augusta National.

Creamer would love for organisers to at least listen to the idea of women playing a Masters in consecutive weeks with the men's tournament. She reiterated her thoughts Tuesday at Lake Merced Golf Club, where the Bay Area native is preparing for this week's Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic.

On April 14, Creamer posted on Twitter: "I hope The Masters will consider a Women's Masters soon. They do so much to grow the game. Fastest area of golf growth is women! (hash)6Majors?"

"I've been there, I've played there," said Green/Black Nike Mercurial Vapor IX TF Creamer, the 2010 US Women's Open champion.

"I had an awesome time. I think the patrons and everybody would love to have two weeks there, two tournaments. Hopefully, we'll see something change and it can happen."

While she hasn't heard from anyone official at Augusta, there has been plenty of positive feedback since she made the comments. She wants to be part of golf taking steps to recruit the next generation of young players.

"Augusta wants to grow the game so badly. There's no reason why we can't do that in women's golf," Creamer said. "We're just as much a part of growing the game."

When reminded that Augusta National Golf Club Chairman Billy Payne has referenced scheduling issues when it comes to adding an event such as a women's tournament, Creamer noted she believes it wouldn't be that hard and "I think they could Nike Air Max Tailwind 5 Noir Powder handle two weeks a year."

"You could have two major tournaments back-to-back," she said.

She's open to participating in further discussion.

"There's no reason why you can't revisit things. I think somebody's got to speak up and somebody's got to say something," Creamer said.

"It's an idea, I don't think that people should be ashamed to talk about it. I'd like to know truthfully why we wouldn't be able to have a tournament there. Definitely women's golf deserves something like that."

Edmonton Oilers general manager Craig MacTavish says the odds of trading the No. 1 overall draft pick in June with Connor McDavid in the team’s crosshairs for immediate help elsewhere are “less than zero,” but Supra Tk Society High Tops Black/White/Pattern what about dealing one "Ultramarine" Asics Gel Lyte III Royal Bleu /Bleu cleste /Blanc of their other centres or breaking up the core and moving Taylor Hall or Jordan Eberle? There seems to be a clamouring to, say, trade last year’s first pick, No. 3 overall centre Leon Draisaitl, now that the Oilers will be taking McDavid after stunningly winning the draft lottery for a fourth time in the last six years.Like, with McDavid and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins as the top two centres, what do they need Draisaitl for?Or listening to offers on first-line wingers Hall and Eberle. But that would be jumping way too far ahead.Take a breath. Rafael Nadal beats Nicolas Almagro at Barcelona Open

Rafael Nadal avenged last year's quarter-final loss to Nicolas Almagro by beating his fellow Spaniard 6-3 6-1 at the Barcelona Open on Wednesday, while US Open champion Marin Cilic slumped to a second-round exit.

The second-seeded Nadal, who lost last week to Novak Djokovic in the Monte Carlo semi-finals, rebounded with a solid performance to advance to the third round.

Almagro hit 19 unforced errors to nine for Nadal in a first set that he ceded on a costly double fault.

Almagro upset Nadal on the same red clay court last year to end the eight-time champion's run of 41 consecutive wins at the tournament he has dominated for almost a decade.

"Nico is a danger because of the potential he has. At the start he served very well and won a lot of points on the second stroke," said Nadal, who was cheered on by Barcelona striker Neymar fresh after his two goals against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.

"It was difficult, so I decided to step back a metre and put more balls in play and, bar the final game, I controlled the match.

"I committed very few errors and I hadn't forgotten that he beat me last year."

Nadal will face 17-year-old Russian Andrey Rublev or Fabio Fognini, who has already beaten Nadal on clay this year in Rio de Janeiro, in the last 16 on Thursday.
